Manning Design Group completed the design development of this multi-phased 15,000 SF renovation of the hospital’s main cafeteria. Project goals included additional seating, space flexibility, durability, elegance and timelessness of design. Because existing windows would be eliminated to make way for the new Levine Children’s Hospital, lighting was a critical design element.
The final plan entailed undulating wing walls to establish an organizing element throughout the space, and sculptural light fixtures and undulating soffits to provide an interesting focal point. Diverse types of seating, such as banquette, bar, booths and fixed tables, were also implemented to create variety and opportunities for intimate gatherings. Manning Design Group also employed an extensive use of innovative technology, including plasma screen TVs, digital menus and message boards, in order to fully modernize the space in design and function.
